Terms and Conditions

Effective date: 17 July 2026
Last updated: 17 July 2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to use of the sonsec.co.za website and to Son Security Systems (Pty) Ltd quotations, call-outs, installations, repairs, maintenance, upgrades, replacements and related electronic security services, unless a signed quotation, accepted proposal, service order or written agreement states additional or different job-specific terms.

Company and document scope

In these terms, “SonSec”, “Son Security Systems”, “we”, “us” or “our” means Son Security Systems (Pty) Ltd. “Customer”, “you” or “your” means the person, company, organisation, site representative or authorised person using the website, requesting a quotation, booking a service or accepting work from SonSec.

These terms cover website use, general enquiries, quotations, estimates, call-outs, installations, repairs, maintenance, upgrades, replacements and related services for electronic security systems, including gate automation, garage door automation, alarm systems, CCTV, electric fencing, access control, visitor management, intercom systems and connected support services.

Website use and enquiries

The website provides general information about SonSec services, supported manufacturers, product knowledge and enquiry routes. Website information is not a binding quotation, technical design, legal compliance certificate, warranty promise or emergency-response guarantee.

Submitting a website enquiry, quote request or service booking does not by itself create a confirmed appointment, quotation acceptance or service contract. SonSec will review the request and respond through the available contact details.

Quotations, estimates and diagnostic work

Quotations are valid for the period stated in the quotation. If no validity period is stated, the quotation is subject to confirmation before acceptance, especially where product availability, supplier pricing, exchange rates, site conditions or scope have changed.

Estimates, verbal guidance and fault opinions are based on the information available at the time and may change after site inspection, diagnosis, dismantling, supplier confirmation or further testing. Diagnostic work may be charged as stated in the quotation, invoice or written agreement.

Additional work, variations, extra materials, access issues, hidden defects or changed customer requirements may require a revised quotation, written approval or separate invoice.

Call-out, labour, materials and payment

Call-out, travel, technician, labour, diagnostic, after-hours, materials, equipment, replacement-part, deposit and advance-payment requirements are charged as stated in the quotation, invoice, service order or written agreement. SonSec does not publish standard fees on this website unless expressly stated on a current quotation or invoice.

Payment terms, due dates, overdue charges, collection steps and any retention of ownership in supplied goods apply as stated in the quotation, invoice or written agreement and only to the extent allowed by South African law.

Materials, products and replacement parts remain subject to supplier availability. Equivalent replacements or revised product recommendations may be required where a manufacturer discontinues or changes a product.

Site access and customer cooperation

The customer must provide safe and reasonable access to the site, equipment, power points, network equipment, gate areas, ceiling spaces, control panels, security rooms and relevant decision-makers where required for the job. The customer must disclose known hazards, prior faults, previous alterations, access restrictions, pets, tenant arrangements, body-corporate rules, load-shedding limitations and system information relevant to the work.

Delays caused by unavailable access, missing authorisation, unsafe conditions, inaccessible equipment, incorrect information, unavailable decision-makers or third-party restrictions may affect timing and charges.

Unsafe, legacy, obsolete or unsupported systems

SonSec may decline, pause or limit work where an installation is unsafe, unlawful, inaccessible, materially defective, damaged, tampered with or outside the reasonable service scope. Where a legacy, obsolete, discontinued or unsupported system is present, SonSec may recommend repair, replacement, upgrade or further diagnosis depending on parts availability and site conditions.

Support for legacy equipment does not mean every part remains available, every function can be restored, or a manufacturer warranty still applies. Any support scope for existing, legacy or obsolete systems must be confirmed in the quotation, invoice or written communication.

Scheduling, delays and cancellations

Installation dates, service dates and technician arrival windows are planned in good faith and may be affected by prior call-outs, supplier delays, weather, access limitations, traffic, safety issues, load shedding, power outages, network outages, illness or other events outside SonSec’s control. SonSec will communicate material delays where practical.

Cancellation, postponement or rescheduling charges apply only where stated in the quotation, invoice or written agreement, or where permitted by applicable law and reasonable in the circumstances.

Emergency and after-hours work

24/7 Emergency Support

Emergency calls are answered 24 hours a day. All after-hours, weekend and public holiday emergency calls are automatically transferred to our standby technician, ensuring assistance is always available when you need it.

Normal Office Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00

Emergency Support: 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week

This does not guarantee a specific response time unless SonSec expressly agrees to that response time in writing.

After-hours, weekend, public-holiday or urgent work may carry additional charges where stated in the quotation, invoice or written agreement.

Product, manufacturer and workmanship warranties

Product warranties and manufacturer warranties depend on the specific product, manufacturer terms, proof of purchase, installation conditions and warranty exclusions. SonSec does not state that all manufacturer warranties are identical.

Workmanship warranty terms, if any, are as stated in the quotation, invoice or written agreement and are subject to the work being used normally, maintained appropriately and not altered by unauthorised third parties.

Warranty cover may exclude damage or faults caused by lightning, power surges, load shedding, unstable power, water ingress, corrosion, pests, vandalism, misuse, negligence, customer-provided equipment, network failures, third-party work, unauthorised alterations, consumables, batteries, normal wear and tear or conditions outside SonSec’s control, subject to applicable law.

Ownership, risk, testing and handover

Risk in installed or delivered equipment passes according to the quotation, invoice, written agreement and applicable law. Customers must take reasonable care of installed or delivered equipment and site materials.

SonSec may test work on completion and provide practical handover guidance. Customer acceptance may occur by signed handover, use of the system, payment, written confirmation or other conduct indicating acceptance, subject to any unresolved defects reported promptly.

Passwords, codes, remote access, cybersecurity and CCTV privacy

Customers are responsible for the lawful use of their own alarm, CCTV, access-control, intercom, gate-automation and related systems. This includes managing passwords, user codes, remote access, app accounts, network credentials, authorised users and privacy obligations for CCTV or visitor information.

Customers should not share sensitive codes or credentials through public website forms. Where SonSec needs access information to perform work, it should be provided through an appropriate agreed channel and changed by the customer where necessary after work is completed.

Limitation of liability and force majeure

SonSec is not responsible for indirect loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, interruption, loss caused by third parties, or security outcomes that depend on customer operation, armed response, monitoring providers, power, networks, site conditions or events outside SonSec’s control, except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Nothing in these terms removes rights that a consumer has under the Consumer Protection Act or any other applicable law. Liability limitations are interpreted subject to South African law and the facts of the specific matter.

SonSec is not liable for delay or non-performance caused by events beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, power failures, load shedding, supplier shortages, transport disruption, labour disruption, network outages, public disorder, legal restrictions, illness, fire, flood, theft or other force majeure events.

Website content, intellectual property and external links

Website text, structure, images, graphics and other content are protected by intellectual-property rights owned by SonSec or licensed to SonSec, unless otherwise stated. Manufacturer names, product names and marks belong to their respective owners. SonSec does not manufacture third-party products referred to on this website.

External links and third-party documents are provided for convenience and product-support context. SonSec is not responsible for changes, outages, inaccuracies or policies on third-party websites.

Privacy and POPIA

Personal information is handled according to the POPIA and Privacy Policy. Customers must ensure they are authorised to provide site, employee, tenant, visitor, CCTV, access-control or other personal information to SonSec for the relevant purpose.

Complaints, disputes, law and general clauses

Complaints should be raised with SonSec as soon as reasonably possible so the matter can be assessed. The parties should first try to resolve disputes through direct communication before escalating to formal remedies.

These terms are governed by South African law. If any term is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply. A delay or failure by SonSec to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right. SonSec may amend these terms by publishing an updated version on this website, but job-specific terms already accepted may remain governed by the applicable quotation, service order or agreement.
